Cheryl Newman is a writer, artist and photography consultant living in London. For more than fifteen years she was the Photography Director of the Telegraph Magazine, a glossy weekend supplement with The Daily Telegraph newspaper. She raised the profile of the magazine commissioning intelligent and inventive photography worldwide. She teaches workshops globally on, editorial and documentary photography. She has been a committee member of the Royal Photographic Society. She has served as a judge for many photographic awards including; PhotoEvidence Book Award 2015, the Flash Forward Award 2015 and the 2015 Moran Contemporary Photography Prize, Sydney, Australia. She is on the Faculty of the Bilder Nordic School in Oslo and a regular speaker on the photo circuit in the UK, US and Europe.
At present she is curating, ‘Time To See’, a long-term project on avoidable blindness within the Commonwealth for the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, ‘We Feed The World’, an exhibition and book project documenting small framers globally, and running an ongoing twelve-week mentorship programme with Capa Gold Medal winner 2015, Marcus Bleasdale and working on book projects.
