We are no longer accepting submissions for this project.  The book s-ig-nificant London is now available from our shop.

The Instagram Yearbook (London)

Over the next year, The Photo Republic of London will be collecting images to produce the first Instagram Urban Yearbook, and what better place for the first volume than our own vibrant, buzzing capital – London (or LDN, as it will be known).

The Yearbook is a chance to give emerging urban photographers a platform to showcase their best work, to get published, sell their prints and be in with a chance to win their own monograph, published by TPRoL.

How’s it going to work?

Each week, we’ll be posting an urban topic on the dedicated Instagram feed @tpro_ldn (as well as the TPRoL Blog). You can upload images at any time between the announcement of the topic and the closing date for submissions (14th February 2017).  However, in order to be in with a chance of your image being chosen for the cover, you’ll need to submit your image within a week.

The project will culminate in a feature book of the best urban photographers in London on Instagram, with the cover being selected from a pool of the best weekly pictures.  Each week, we’ll choose three finalists and followers of the official Instagram feed will get to pick the winner.  One of these 52 pictures will be the cover image for the book.

So that we have the best possible choice of images for the book, the challenges will remain open for uploads until the end of the project, but images uploaded after the closing date will not be eligible for the cover competition.

At the end of each month, we’ll be favouriting a number of images, which will be on the short-list to appear in the book.

Short-listed photographers and the cover winners will then have the option to sell prints of these images via the TPRoL shop.  Simply upload a copy of your image to our website (details will be sent with confirmation emails) and we’ll take care of the rest.

The Nuts and Bolts

A new challenge is announced on Tuesday mornings.

The challenge closes at midday on the following Sunday.

Three finalist shots are selected, and are announced on Sunday at around 8pm. Followers of @tpro_ldn are then asked to vote on their favourite photo with the winner to go into the pool for the chance to be the featured cover image.

Voting stays open for 24 hours and closes at 8pm on Monday.

The winner is announced on Monday night by 8.30pm – the winner is determined by the number of likes on the finalist photos.

The new theme is announced the next day (Tuesday).

The Small Print

The copyright remains with you at all times and we will never use your images without your permission and full accreditation.  By submitting images to the competition, you agree that TPRoL may use them in the Instagram Yearbook, on its website and in any publicity for the promotion of the book.

By submitting images to the competition, you agree that you own the copyright to the image and, if necessary, you have required any permissions required to use the image.

Once you’ve been short-listed, either for the book or the cover, you will be contacted by TPRoL with details of how to submit your image(s) for printing.  Prints will be sold via shop on the website.  After print costs have been deducted, all proceeds will be paid to the photographer.  Payments will be made on the last day of each month.
