In 2008, he increasingly turned his attention to exploring his own long-term projects.
The first of these completed projects is Last Best Hiding Place (2007-2014), published by Kehrer in June 2015, is a personal and contemporary odyssey through a landscape of filmic references in the American West.
He travelled for seven summers, a month or more at a time, weaving his route through the vast landscapes, discovering the dust covered un-cherished side of the faded American dream.
He is currently working on his series Love Bites (in a small area of the Bristol Channel in his native England)
__________
Long influenced by cinema, his inspiration to photograph started in the 70’s watching films such as, Days of Heaven Terrence Malick’s tribute to wide open spaces; The Deer Hunter Michael Cimino and Vilmos Zsigmond’s vision of steel town America that was as stunning as it was tragic: Jack Nicholson bouncing off Karen Black in Five Easy Pieces; and continuing to this day with films such as Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master, Andrea Arnold’s Fish Tank, and Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler. Auteur movies that ask as many questions as they answer.
His prints reside in American and European private collections.
He mainly lives in Somerset, in rural England, (as well as regular visits to US) with his wife the writer /artist/producer, Lee C. Wallick, and their young baby, Dakota.
